Lucas Burnley

A little background

I'm 24 years old and have been making knives since about July of 2003, I went  full time in late 04. Knife making was a long time goal of mine, I spent a lot of time in the outdoors  growing up in the southwest and was able to carry a blade from a very young age,  so I've always considered knives a part of my life.  I am primarily self taught  but like most makers I have received a lot of help from others along the way, makers like Tom Krein, Joe Cordova, and Trace Rinaldi have had a large influence on me and my work.  the forums have also been a huge asset both in information and the ability
to get my knives out for people to see.
Most of my work at the moment would probably fall in to the Practical/Tactical category but I do other types of work as well I love that I'm able to create
something both functional and esthetically pleasing, due to my back log I have stopped taking new orders, but I'm hoping to start doing a few more shows a year
and getting more knives to the purveyors.
At the moment I am primarily making fixed blades but I see my focus changing more towards folders in the near future.
I lean towards synthetic handle materials for their durability, and prefer stainless steel in my personal knives, the steels that I'm currently working with are 154CM, CPM154, S30V, A2 and D2.
I recently landed my first factory collaboration with TOPS which will be released this June.
